some thoughts about "love pollution'

In times of war & turmoil--which essentially is always--it is good to imagine a way of life where love, compassion & understanding would be so plentiful that it simply overflowed. The overabundance of love would pollute the earth. But, as human love is imperfect, some of that love would be polluted as well: romanticized instead of rationalized, arbitrarily illegal instead of universal, misdirected, pathogenic, segregational or commodified. Lacking perfection, even love may be simultaneously productive and destructive.

Love Pollution is easier to experience than define; life is not necessarily about events, accomplishments & milestones, but about feelings, needs & choices. How do i feel now? What do i need? Am i hating? Loving? Suffering? Causing suffering? Caring or selfish? Careless or selfless? Finding balance between self-preservation and altruism makes life messy. Which is more important? How can these opposing forces be reconciled?

Life is a ride of limited duration, it can be an overall comfortable experience to some level of unbearable. We clever humans can make choices that will maximize the ease of life for our selves, future selves and progeny while taking care not to displace the needs of others. Our existence is ours to pollute as we see fit, to litter with the dynamics of love or hate, which no doubt is a struggle worth singing about. - Del Nakamura
